Epidemiological and experimental studies have provided enough evidence that human papillomavirus(HPV) continuous infection is a main player in the development of uterine cervical neoplasms.Migration of cancer cells from the origin tissue to surrounding or distant organs is essential for tumor progression. Many studies of tumor invasion and metastasis have focused on the degradation of extracellular matrix,in which matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) play a key role. Two of these enzymes,MMP-2 and MMP-9,have been correlated with the processes of tumor cell invasion and metastasis in human cancers, including cervical neoplasms. It has been shown that the up-regulation of MMPs is associated with progression of cervical uterine neoplasms. This review describes the current understanding of MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression and activity in pre-cancer and cancer lesions of cervical uterine, which may open new strategies for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

David Harris has been the Head of Business Conduct at BAE systems since 2009 and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD. Prior to BAE he worked at Lockheed Martin for 12 years in a variety of roles including, most recently, Director of Corporate Responsibility & Ethics, Ethics Officer and HR Operations Manager. David?s specialities include business ethics, ethics and business conduct, HR management, people management, coaching and mentoring and programme management.
How has the culture of ethical business changed in the last 25 years?
I?m not sure it?s been a culture change per say, more a need to clean up some ways of ?accepted? business and make them ?acceptable?. Stakeholder expectations have increased dramatically. The speed and detail that business-related information is now available would have been unthinkable a lot less than even 25 years ago. This increased information and knowledge has enabled us to challenge the way that people act and business is done. It?s no longer about what we do; it?s how we do it. Another change has been the clear demonstration of how irresponsible business can so negatively affect the lives of individuals, with no direct connection between the two.
What are the greatest challenges ethical businesses face?
For me it?s creating and sustaining the right culture and knowing that you have it. For all the effort and creativity we put into codes of conduct, policies, compliance training et al, everything hinges on our employees acting as we want and expect them to act, including how they deal with dilemmas. Another challenge is satisfying the need for and variance of relevant and engaging information that stakeholder groups seek. Providing the right types of evidence to support your statements and for that evidence to enable others to trust the same statements is wholly necessary, if a bit tricky!
If you could set one piece of global legislation to make businesses work more ethically what would it be?
I?m not sure that more legislation is what we need because we are talking about behaviours of people and organisations (collections of people). Legislation, like policies and processes, has its place, but what determines how a business works and how its people respond to situations is culture ? ethical culture built in an ethical environment on ethical values and principles. Rather than more legislation, how about effective enforcement of that which we already have? Perhaps then we would see any gaps.
In terms of ethics, what are your greatest fears for the UK business community?
I?m not sure I have too many fears other than perhaps a creeping complacency from watching the financial and media sectors taking a beating. Complacency based on a [mistaken] belief that it ?could never happen? to them. I think the UK Bribery Act forced the debate around, and understanding of business ethics and how it differs to compliance. In recent years I have seen a dramatic increase in the breadth of industry sectors and businesses I come into contact with at conferences and network-events, and the discussions are very different now. The openness amongst those working in this area is both refreshing and encouraging; it?s almost camaraderie and one I rarely felt outside of my own organisation when in HR or engineering. What also allays my fears is that, across the UK business community, this area of work is attracting very talented individuals with broad expertise, skills and knowledge, me not included of course! People who have the courage and conviction to drive the changes where they are needed in their organisations.
Geographically, what are the most predominant areas for risk at present? And what is the nature of those risks?
I don?t feel too qualified to comment in detail or to single out any region or country. But what I do think is that it doesn?t really matter where you are or intend going ? robust and effective risk management through your planning as well as execution phases is critical. Having a long-range risk radar that prevents you making assumptions against limited pieces of information or intelligence is a great help. Being able to collate often disparate pieces of data to build a picture that then informs and promotes the discussions amongst and challenges from senior leaders. If you can do this then it doesn?t matter if it?s a new joint venture in the EU or a new plant in Asia, the risks will be identified, qualified, quantified and managed.
The response to the Bribery Act from the business world has been well documented; but from your own point of view, what have been the most significant contentions and concerns with adhering to the legislation?
We welcomed the Act all along because we saw the need for something that helped create a level playing field for certain business activities and transactions around the world. I think what gave most people concern was the idea of needing ?adequate procedures? without being told what they should look like. For us we continue to devise better ways of measuring and monitoring various processes and procedures to increase our confidence of ?adequacy?. I?m not a lawyer, but personally I get a sense that the idea of self-disclosure is something that many are at best unsure of, at worst completely distrusting.
What are the aspects you most enjoy/like about working in business ethics?
I absolutely love the fact that everything we do has to be the result of data and information gathering; some process of analysis and synthesis to understand what is actually going on; the design, development and deployment of improvement interventions and then monitoring those to see if they had the impact you set out for.? Through networking and benchmarking I see lots of companies and talented individuals doing great things and many new ideas emerging all of the time. But no-one can tell us what we need to do for BAE Systems, or how to do it ? though some do try! It?s for us to decide and explain and although we find ways to test things out there is little if any room for failure.
And least enjoy?
Ironic ? but not having a book that now again I could turn to that says ?here?s the solution to your problem?! Not that I would want this often, but I do get a bit put off by the amount of academic research, opinion and direction out there that is almost impossible to translate into the workplace.
What has been the toughest challenge of your career? Moving from a career in engineering into HR management was a massive eye-opener for me. Until then I thought I knew people as well as a bit about the business. I wasn?t even close! So much change for me personally, at a time that the company I worked for was changing significantly too, meant that the first year remains the most sustained period of intense pressure I have faced. Having said that it is probably the most enjoyable because I learnt so much about myself, and it wasn?t all good either!
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
I don?t do questions like this very well as there is very little I have achieved without the help and support of others. From the workplace the thing I am most proud of is helping some of those I have been lucky to manage realise their own potential. To see people grow in capability and confidence to move on to and be successful in roles way beyond their early ambition gives me real satisfaction. Maybe one or two of my early managers feel that about me? Or maybe not!
As Europe and the world becomes more integrated, working practices change fast and often affect more than one country at a time how to you keep abreast of what affects you and your company?
Sometimes the amount of information and the volume of opinion can be overwhelming to the point where it would be easy to switch it all off. But it is essential to keep abreast and so I rely on one or two good sources of ?summarised? reporting (I can go to the detail if I wish) and networking. I find that regular contact with well-chosen groups and trusted, like-minded individuals help in sharing ideas and practice and keeping me sane (being in an ethics role can become lonely!). We may be dealing with things differently, but most of us are struggling with exactly the same source-problems and I find that sense check really valuable. One of the things I would recommend anyone does is develop some effective filters for things you pick up. If it sounds like waffle or narrow opinion, drop it and leave it dropped. If it sounds like a real nugget you may want to refer back to, put it somewhere you will easily find it. But don?t become a squirrel, like cupboards even IT systems have their capacity limits!
How do you encourage best ethical business practice internationally?
The ?must do? and ?must not do? items of policy are simple, but they cover just a small percentage of what our employees are likely to face. One of my favourite quotes is ?If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck?. Almost everyone has intuition for when something isn?t right ? that is the time to seek advice. If it does not fit with our values and expectations then it isn?t right, for us at least. And of course, having access to a confidential helpline that they can trust will encourage them to seek advice in difficult circumstances.

After sitting with couples recently I began wondering if marriage isn?t somehow harder these days?? So many couples I know are wondering why they are unhappy ? fighting, distant, dissatisfied, hurting and exhausted.? One woman recently said to me, ?Marriage wasn?t supposed to be this way.? This is not what I signed up for.? We work all the time, struggle to make ends meet, are totally stressed out and frankly, too exhausted to be anything other than cranky toward each other.?
Life right now for many (if not most) young families is nothing short of brutal.? Nearly all of their physical energy, emotional energy, financial resources and time are exhausted by daily life.? They are up early, dropping kids off at school, off to work, home late, rushing through dinner and night chores, working some more and falling into bed two hours too late ? all to get up and do it again.? Nothing seems to be stretching to accommodate ? not their schedule, not their money, not their energy, not their time and certainly not their patience.? They are frustrated with life and far too often taking it out on each other.? ?Why couldn?t you ??; ?Why did you ??;? ?Why won?t? you ??; ?You never ??; ?You always ??; anger? silence ? distance ? despair ? loneliness.
Life and marriages surviving stressful times is not new to humanity.? We have done this before ? and we will do it again.? And while we may have said in our marriage vows, ?for better or worse?, something about this particular ?worse? is dissolving the resolve of married life ? and inviting people to attack and blame each other.? Somehow in this new economic landscape there is a type of disillusionment and resentment that seems a bit startling to many ? and I have begun to wonder what factors might be influencing our management of this stressful time.
Could it be that we have grown up believing that if we work hard and do the right thing that we will be saved from hardship? ?That somehow we are entitled to ease and happiness?
Could it be that we believe what the advertisers say ? ?If it is broken or old or not working like ?it should?, we can replace it with a new one??? As if we should never have to put up with anything not working perfectly or meeting our needs?
Could it be that since our work is industry and not a crop that we are less clear about hardship and how to manage it?? Rather than a season of drought, are we more likely to see hardship as someone?s fault?
Marriage and parenting follow a different set of rules then commerce.? Like other aspects of life ? it follows a spiritual set of rules and rhythms.? First and last, cold and hot, hard and easy, give and take, love and suffering.? There is no summer without a winter.? No summit without a climb.? No lush forest without rain. ?No beautiful garden without a lot of tending and work.? No fit body without a lot of sweat.? ?The? mystical, magical, challenging life of relationships asks us to love our partners and our children even when they are unlovable ? not because it is good for them or our relationship (which it is) but becasue it is good for US. ?When they struggle and fall we are asked to hold their hands, wipe their tears and help them stand.? We realize they are human ? and therefore fundamentally flawed and fundamentally valuable ? just like us.?? We watch as joy happens and sorrow happens ? and we slowly come to see that life is both elegant and uncertain.
While we may want to return their ugly behavior with our own ugly behavior ? we painfully come to notice that this makes all measures of suffering increase ? ours, theirs and the suffering in the relationship.? We come to see that we do not have to let our children or our partner?s behavior determine our own ? but that we always have a choice to be loving and just ? even when it is the hardest thing we do.? And when we make this choice our integrity grows, our confidence in our abilities soar and we become a more fulfilled person. Marriage is a paradox and a spiritual endeavor.? When we determine to notice our partner?s goodness and hold ourselves accountable to offer just and loving responses, we grow in grace and compassion.? We grow more and more into the person we were created to be.? Free to live and love in spite of life and because of life.

It seems like a fact of life -- Japan always seems to get the cool stuff first. Take Epson's Moverio BT-100 wearable display for instance -- it launched in Japan last November, and we in the States are only now getting a chance to snap one up. Users can browse the web (with what appears to be the dicey stock browser, yargh), view video content in both 2D and 3D thanks to a pair of qHD microprojectors, and hear it all with its built-in earbuds. And don't worry too much about walking into the occasional wall -- the visor is translucent, and pops off in case you really need your eyes for something.

Chinese ancient astronomy has played an important role in the development of astronomy and has experienced a lengthy period of spectacular prosperity with many discoveries over the last 4000 years, establishing a strong foundation for Chinese astronomy today. Over the last 30 years since China opened up to the outside world, the rapid development of China's economy has contributed to an increased investment in China's astronomical development. This has led to some remarkable improvements in its basic research and to the development of equipment and facilities, as demonstrated by the first discovery of possible evidence for the annihilation of dark matter particles, the construction of Guoshoujing Telescope (Large Sky Area Multi Object Fibre Spectroscopy Telescope, LAMOST) and the ongoing FAST (Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope), and its active participation in Chang-E I and Chang-E II, China's Lunar Exploration Programmes.

Post-Peeta, the actor has a horror/comedy film and 'Red Dawn' on the horizon. By Kara Warner
Josh Hutcherson in "The Hunger Games" Photo: Lionsgate
Those of you who've seen "The Hunger Games" will more than likely agree with our sentiment that there are a number of things to love about the weekend's box-office dominator. The film's success is first and foremost due to author Suzanne Collins' brilliance, followed by director Gary Ross' sleek and stylish take on the adaptation and, of course, the performances of the very talented cast.
One of those standout performances is Josh Hutcherson's portrayal of loyal and lovable boy with the bread Peeta Mellark. He's so good in the film we just can't wait to see what he does with the character's arc in "Catching Fire." Unfortunately, we have to wait about 20 months until that happens, so in the meantime, here's a look at where and when you can see more of Hutcherson's work on the big screen.
First up is the R-rated teen horror/comedy film "Detention," which hits select theaters April 13. In the uniquely twisted and slightly outrageous film, Hutcherson plays Clapton Davis, a student of Grizzly Lake High School just trying to make it through the school year when slasher-movie killer Cinderhella descends on the school and goes on a killing spree. "Detention" played at last year's South by Southwest film festival and received many surprised-but-delighted reactions. It also stars Dane Cook, Shanley Caswell and Spencer Locke.
After watching a different side of Hutcherson's skills in "Detention," look for the coming-of-age drama "Carmel," in which Hutcherson plays an artistically gifted teenager who is abandoned by his drug-addicted mother and ends up in the small seaside town of Carmel, California, where he is introduced to the art-forgery community. Hayden Panettiere and Alfred Molina also star. According to the film's Facebook page, the release date for the film will be sometime in June, to be timed with the DVD/Blu-ray releases of "Hunger Games" and "Journey 2."
In November, we'll get to see more of Hutcherson's action-movie skills in the remake of the 1984 film "Red Dawn," the release of which has been long-delayed due to the studio's financial troubles. The story revolves around a group of teenagers who resist the occupation/invasion of a foreign army in their town. Hutcherson stars alongside Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki and Isabel Lucas.
After "Red Dawn" comes out, we very likely won't see Hutcherson on the big screen again until next year, when "Catching Fire" is released November 22, 2013.

Despite it's rocky start, we wouldn't blame you for being a little jealous of Sprint's tight integration with Google Voice. Well, the relationship between the two might not be exclusive for much longer. Vincent Paquet, Product Manager for Google Voice, told CNET in an interview that the web giant is actively talking to other carriers about forming a similar bond. Paquet didn't name any names unfortunately, but we're hoping one of the other major national providers here in the US is on the short list of potential corporate polygamist partners. If we're lucky, getting your Verizon phone to play nice with Google Voice's voicemail inbox will soon be a lot simpler. Or, at least it'll be easier to send those stubborn exes straight to voicemail.
