Now the first park golf course in the continental United States is open in Akron.
Destroyer Park Golf held its ribbon cutting Sunday.
Officials from Japan's Nippon Park Golf Association helped open the course.
Players says it?s a mix between putt-putt, golf, and croquet.
Buffalo native Dick Beyer was inspired by the game after spending time in Japan.
His family transformed their small farm into the 18-hole course.
"He loved the game when he played it and really wanted to bring it back here to the United States as a way for people to enjoy the outdoors and have family time, and he knew that it was a game that anybody could play," said Kris Beyer Jones, Beyer's daughter and owner of the course.
Owners say they hope to hold tournaments in the future.
